Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu

Arrive in the Kathmandu Valley with stunning views of the Himalayas and terraced landscapes. Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be greeted by a representative and transported to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the city, visiting highlights such as Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Temple for a sunset view over the valley, and the bustling Thamel district for your first meal. Don’t miss Asan Tole bazaar for an authentic Nepali market experience and practice some basic Nepali phrases with the friendly locals.

Day 2: Explore Kathmandu with your Guide

Experience Kathmandu’s unique early morning atmosphere as the city awakens. Enjoy breakfast and then explore the numerous famous sights around the Kathmandu Valley. You can opt for a free day or request a local English-speaking guide and private jeep for a deeper dive into the city’s history and significance. Highlights include Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and the historic Patan Durbar Square.

Day 3: Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, Trek to Phakding (8,563 feet / 2,610 m)

After breakfast, take a thrilling 30-minute flight to Lukla, with stunning aerial views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, begin your trek through local villages, encountering fellow trekkers, locals, and yaks. The easy first day trek through the Dudh Koshi Valley on a well-marked trail leads to your overnight stop in Phakding.

Day 4: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (11,290 feet / 3,440 m)

Start a challenging trek towards Namche Bazaar after breakfast. Cross several high suspension bridges over the Dudh Kosi River and enter Sagarmatha National Park, with permit fees covered by your guide. The trail steepens, offering the first glimpses of Mount Everest if the weather is clear. On arrival in Namche, explore the town, stock up on supplies, and enjoy the local shops, restaurants, and bars.

Day 5: Rest Day in Namche Bazaar, Optional Day Hike

Spend the day acclimatizing in Namche Bazaar, an ideal spot nestled between ridges amidst towering peaks. Explore lodges, tea shops, and souvenir stands. Consider visiting the Khunde Hospital established by Sir Edmund Hillary or taking a one-hour walk to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic mountain views. The Sherpa Culture Museum also offers great vistas and cultural insights.

Day 6: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (12,687 feet / 3,867 m)

After breakfast, follow the trail along the valley high above the Dudh Kosi River, with views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Pass villages and tea shops, then descend steeply to Phunki Tenga for lunch. Afterward, undertake a steep climb to Tengboche, through rhododendron forests with beautiful mountain scenery. Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery and enjoy spectacular panoramic views.

Day 7: Trek from Tengboche to Monjo

After breakfast, trek back to Namche Bazaar for lunch and last-minute shopping. Continue your hike down to Monjo, crossing the Dudh Kosi River multiple times. Enjoy the scenic route before settling for the night in Monjo.

Day 8: Trek from Monjo to Lukla

Begin your final trek day after breakfast, following the Dudh Kosi River to Lukla. Pass through villages like Chumoa, Benkar, Phakding, and Chuthawa, reaching the Pasang Lhamu Memorial Gate. Although mostly downhill, the trail ends with an uphill climb to Lukla, where you can relax and reflect on your journey.

Day 9: Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

After breakfast in Lukla, take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the afternoon and evening at your leisure. Explore more of Kathmandu, shop for souvenirs, or relax with a massage or yoga class. Choose from a variety of dining options for your last evening in Nepal.

Day 10: Depart Kathmandu

Enjoy your final moments in Kathmandu with a leisurely breakfast, city stroll, or last-minute shopping. A representative will drive you to the airport for your departure flight, ensuring you arrive at least two hours before your flight time. Say farewell to Nepal, taking home unforgettable memories of your trekking adventure.
