Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the city, visiting highlights such as Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Temple for a sunset view over the valley, and the bustling Thamel district for your first meal. Don’t miss Asan Tole bazaar for an authentic Nepali market experience and practice some basic Nepali phrases with the friendly locals.
Experience Kathmandu’s unique early morning atmosphere as the city awakens. Enjoy breakfast and then explore the numerous famous sights around the Kathmandu Valley. You can opt for a free day or request a local English-speaking guide and private jeep for a deeper dive into the city’s history and significance. Highlights include Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and the historic Patan Durbar Square.
After breakfast, take a thrilling 30-minute flight to Lukla, with stunning aerial views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, begin your trek through local villages, encountering fellow trekkers, locals, and yaks. The easy first day trek through the Dudh Koshi Valley on a well-marked trail leads to your overnight stop in Phakding.
Start a challenging trek towards Namche Bazaar after breakfast. The trail steepens, offering the first glimpses of Mount Everest if the weather is clear.
