Itinerary

Day 1: Drive/Flight to Jomsom (2720m) and Trek to Kagbeni (2800m)

Your Upper Mustang expedition commences with either a picturesque flight or a scenic drive to Jomsom, situated at an altitude of approximately 2720 meters. From this bustling hub, embark on a 3–4 hour trek to Kagbeni, a charming village nestled at 2800 meters. En route, marvel at the rugged beauty of the landscape, adorned with ancient monasteries and imbued with the unique Tibetan-influenced culture that characterizes this region.

Day 2: Trek from Kagbeni to Chele (3100m)

Today’s journey entails a captivating 6-7-hour trek from Kagbeni to Chele, positioned at 3100 meters above sea level. Traverse through a tapestry of enchanting landscapes, punctuated by quaint villages and flanked by towering peaks. Immerse yourself in the allure of Mustangi architecture and the cultural richness of Chele, where every corner tells a story of bygone eras.

Day 3: Trek from Chele to Ghiling (3570m)

Set out on a 6 to 7-hour trek from Chele to Ghiling, located at 3570 meters. Along the way, meander through picturesque valleys, adorned with ancient chortens and intricately adorned mani walls. Arrive in Ghiling, a tranquil oasis replete with ancient monasteries and a serene ambiance that invites contemplation and reflection.

Day 4: Trek from Ghiling to Tsarang (3560m)

Set out on a 5- to 6-hour trek from Ghiling to Tsarang, situated at 3560 meters above sea level. Marvel at the picturesque terrain adorned with colorful rock formations as you make your way to Tsarang, a historical village boasting a beautiful palace and gompa.

Day 5: Trek from Tsarang to Lo Manthang (3840m)

Embark on a 3–4 hour trek from Tsarang to Lo Manthang, the capital of Upper Mustang, located at 3840 meters above sea level. Explore the ancient walled city, visit monasteries, and immerse yourself in the unique Mustang culture that thrives in this cultural hub.

Day 6: Explore Lo Manthang and Chhoser Area (3961m)

Spend a day delving into the cultural and historical treasures of Lo Manthang. Venture to Chhoser to witness caves, monasteries, and unique rock formations, before considering an optional drive back to Pokhara via Muktinath.

Day 7: Trek from Lo Manthang to Ghami (3510m)

Commence your return journey with a 5- to 6-hour trek from Lo Manthang to Ghami, situated at 3510 meters above sea level. Traverse through scenic landscapes and arrive in Ghami, a village renowned for its ancient monasteries and tranquil ambiance.

Day 8: Trek from Ghami to Syangboche (3800m)

Day 9: Trek from Syangboche to Chhusang (2980m)

Day 10: Trek from Chhusang to Jomsom (2720m)

Conclude your trek with a 5- to 6-hour journey from Chhusang to Jomsom, situated at 2720 meters above sea level. Reflect on the incredible journey and savor the comforts of civilization at the gateway to Upper Mustang.

Day 11: Flight/Drive Back to Pokhara

Depart from Jomsom, either by scenic flight or drive, based on your preference. The varying altitude during the journey back to Pokhara marks the conclusion of your remarkable Upper Mustang adventure, leaving you with memories of ancient villages, monasteries, and breathtaking landscapes.
